The practice of Longchen Nyingthig was started in late 18th century and emerges as the one of the most foremost lineages of teachings and practices of Dzogchen in Nyingma tradition.

Guru Rinpoche had the ability to look into the future and hid unique teachings known as “Terma” in order to provide teachings and practises that were suited for different periods of time. He made fortunate connections for his main disciples to be reincarnated as extraordinary lamas (gurus) known as “Tertons,” who would rediscover and spread the hidden teachings at the right time. Jigmed Lingpa was one of these Tertons, who rediscovered the Terma known as “Longchen Nyingthig,” which is now one of Nyingma’s most important traditions. Dodrup Chen, Jigmed Lingpa’s principal disciple, vowed in his present to preserve and protect the Longchen Nyingthig lineage in current and future incarnations.

The Longchen Nyingthig is a Terma, hidden yet re-discovered teaching by the master Jigmed Lingpa. The revealed treasure teaching is principally acknowledged and practiced for its wide-ranging commentarial literature, which includes practice manuals such as the famed Yeshe Lama.

The teaching originated from Padmasambhava through different spiritual masters and reveal to Jigmed Lingpa, who recognized that the time was appropriate to be practiced, put them down in writing, began the transmission and started foundational cycle of practices of Longchen Nyingthig.

The meditation practice is relevant even today, spiritual method to gain insights into wisdom and to integrate compassion in modern time. The Longchen Nyingthig traditions give major pushed to ris-med, the non-sectarian movement. The teachings scriptures discovered by Jigmed Lingpa, which survive up to these days. The three volumes, known as the Nyingthig Tsapod (snying thig rtsa pod) is regarded as an essence of these profound teachings.
