lay practitioner

The foundation of Buddhism lay with co-operation between Indian Yogi and mystic Padmasambhava and Pandita Shantirakshita with the establishment of Samye Monastery. At that same time, the lineage of lay practitioners took root in Tibet when Dharma King Trisong Deutsan himself became the most important lay practitioner. The re-energizing of the lineage of lay practitioners is important for Buddhist practice and development in this changing time. The lay community is the largest group of practitioners who had to integrate the Buddhist practice as a way of life to bring the essence of philosophy to daily life. The increasing number of educated Buddhist laypeople is conductive for better understanding and practice of philosophy. One laywomen practitioner is equal to ten practitioners for the mother influence in the family is well recognized.
